Exam Pattern of IAS Prelims

 

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) was formerly known as Imperial Civil Service (ICS) and is one of India's most difficult competitive exams. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to recruit officers for the All India Administrative Civil Service. The only constant in today's world is "change". Preliminary examination:

       The preliminary exam is the first step in the IAS examination process. This preliminary round is similar to an elimination round. Preliminary exam scores have no bearing on final selection or ranking in the IAS exam.

       This test is objective in nature and consists of two papers: General Studies Paper 1 and CSAT Paper 2.

 

The general studies syllabus comprises the following topics:

       National and international events currently taking place

       India's history and the Indian National Movement

       Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, and Rights Issues in Indian Politics and Governance

       Geography of India and the World-Physical, Social, and Economic Geography of India and the World

       Environmental ecology, biodiversity, and climate change are all challenges that need to be addressed.

       General Science

 

The CSAT syllabus includes the following topics:

       Comprehension

       Logical reasoning and analytical ability

       Data interpretation -charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc

       General mental ability

       Decision-making and problem-solving

       Basic numeracy - numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc
