Prelims Syllabus of IAS 2022
Every year lakhs of students prepare for the
UPSC examination, from which the majority of the students want to become IAS
officers. Becoming an IAS Officer is not a piece of cake, you have to cross
many hurdles mentally and physically as well. Mentally preparing yourself to
study the vast syllabus of the UPSC examination along with giving time to every
important topic and taking out time for rest is the work of a sorted
individual. Physically, you have to clear every step of the examination with
maximum marks.
To Clear any examination, you must be aware of
two things mainly i.e. Syllabus and steps of examination. In this article, you
will get to know the syllabus of prelims, the 1st step you need to clear to
become an IAS officer.
There are two papers in prelims, i.e. Paper I
and Paper-II. Every Paper carries 200 marks and it will be an objective type
paper with multiple-choice questions. It is compulsory to appear in both of the
examinations, if you fail to appear for any of the examinations, you will be disqualified.
PAPER
I (200 Marks):

General Science
●
Current Events of Indian and International
Importance.
●
Indian Movements and its History and of India.
●
India and World’s Social-economic and
geographic knowledge.
●
India’s Polity and Political system, Governance
Constitution, Panchayat Raj, and many more.
●
Social and Economic Development, Poverty,
inclusion, demographics and social initiatives, etc.
●
Knowledge on general issues like environmental
ecology, Climate changes, and biodiversity.
PAPER-II
(200 Marks):
●
Interpersonal skills include communication
skills.
●
Comprehensions.
●
Logical reasoning
●
Decision making and Problem-solving
●
Quantitative analysis.
●
Analytic ability
●
Basic Numeracy (Till class 10th)
●
Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency.
(Till class 10th )
While appearing for Prelims of IAS examination, there are
few things you need to understand, the number of students allowed to mains will
be about twelve to thirteen times of the total number of vacancies filled in
the year of that examination. Here, Paper II will be qualifying paper with
minimum qualifying marks at 33%
For every correct answer, you will be awarded with 2 marks
in Paper I and 2.5 Marks in Paper II. There will be negative marking for
incorrect answers which means, one-third mark will be deducted as penalty. If
nothing is marked, there will be no penalty.
