ITU
performed Joint Drill on 1st December :
International Telecommunication Union
(ITU) and the Department of Telecommunications operating under the Ministry of
Communications performed Joint Cyber Drill. This drill is conducted for
Critical Network Infrastructure operators in India. This Infrastructure
includes systems, assets and networks that are essential to ensure the safety
of a country. Improvement of cyber security measures, protection and incident
response capability of the country is the only aim of this drill. During this
drill, the cyber attacks and information security incidents were simulated. And
the participants were trained to defend and respond against such incidents.
Thus, the drill helped to test the cyber capabilities of an organization.

Withdrawal
of Char Dham Act :
The Uttarakhand Government recently
withdrew the Char Dham Devasthanam Management Act, which was legislated by the
Uttarakhand State Assembly in 2019. This act constituted Uttarakhand Char Dham
Devasthanam Board. It brought Char Dham of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri
and Yamunotri and 49 other temples under its range. Pushkar Singh Dhami, the
chief minister of Uttarakhand was the chairman of the board and Satpal Maharaj,
the Minister of Religious Affairs was the vice chairman. Uttarakhand Char Dham
Devasthanam Board was responsible for management of temples; it had powers to
frame policies, sanction expenditure, budget formulation and also had powers to
give directions for the safe custody of temple jewellery and properties. The
act was proposed with the aim of repairing the temples. According to the Protestants, Priests,
pandas and Rawals who were associated with affairs of temples says, the
Government wants to take control over the financial and policy decisions of the
temple.

Varanasi
– The First City to Start Ropeway Service:
India has become the third country in the
world to start ropeway service as a mode of public transport after Bolivia and
Mexico. Varanasi, a city in Uttar Pradesh proposed a ropeway to be constructed
between Cantt Railway Station (Varanasi Junction) to Church
Square (Godauliya) covering an aerial distance of 3.45 km, to
ease the traffic congestion. This project will cost over Rs 400 crore which is
divided between Central Government and State Government in 80:20 ratio. This
ropeway will reduce the journey between two stations to only 15 minutes. At the
height of 45 meters, 220 trolleys will run in a gap of 90 seconds to 120
seconds. Around 4000 people will be able to travel in one direction at a time.
It is estimated that this project will be completed in 24 months.

BSF
57th Raising Day:
The
Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 57th Raising Day. Border Security
Force is a country’s border guarding organization on its border with Bangladesh
and Pakistan. Border Security Force (BSF) is one of the five Central Armed
Police Forces of India, while others are Central Reserve Police
Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan
Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Border Security
Force (BSF) was raised in the wake of 1965 War on 1 December 1965. The Border
Security Force (BSF) in a tweet wrote, “01 December 2021 on #BSFDay2021
as we turn 57, our ‘journey’ in the service of the motherland continues for
eternity. It is an honor to serve and protect. A promise we shall forever keep:
Jeevan Paryant Kartavya.”
